Rich Rags had their first decent marquee suport show. Jon had given express orders that No one (me and Paul) where to get exesively wankered the night before so we were ship shape and on the money come the morrow. For some reason the only hire van we had been able to get that day was from Beverley, up by Pauls place, and Jon had offered to collect Paul from home at 8.30 am upon picking up then van.
Jon swung the van into the yard outside rehearsals and vitriolically crushed the gears before getting out and stomping to the side door.
"Look at this cunt!" he snapped , before sliding back the side door of the van. Paul was utterly bolloxed and laughing his head off clutching abottle of remy. It transpired that Jon had pulled up at Pauls place and headed towards the door when a rubber shark had shot across his path attached to a fishing line. He looked around and spotted Paul sat in a near by tree with a fishing rod, holding a bottle of brandy and reeling in his rubber shark, laughing his head off, pissed out of his mind... at 8. 30 am.
It wasnt so much the disregard for staying reasonably compus mentus. It was that non of us could ever imagine anyone else sat in a tree at 8.30 a.m with a fishing rod and a rubber shark.
The man remains a true maverik

I remember that gig, cos you gave me alift from Doncaster train station, as id been up to Hull flogging second hand cars i'd bought down south, selling back in Hull to raise some cash for my band "wild alice." I spent the ntire journey gabbing to Jon and His missus down to London and when we got there, Jon jumped in the back of the van pulled aside a dodgy pile of blankets to reveal a wankered and passed out Angel in the back, honestly i didnt even know he was in the van !
Great Gig tho

Absolutly true. I remember Paul just passing out once the brandy was gone and treating us all to some horrendous bottom histrionics until we hit Scratchwood services.

Sounds like it. I can't confirm that Paul is
still smoking beetles, though.

What about when he fell 30ft off those pallets and smashed his face in, fuckin legend, still the best bassist I ever propped up onstage with a broom.
Don't remeind me. Stu was a fucking ogre at times. Paul had 15 stitches to fasten his eylid back on, he was 75% purple and yellow from bruising, and couldn't stand up for more than a couple of minutes due to his knee being the size of a large turnip..and Stu's only empathy was to let him sit down on a stool during gigs. No chance of cancellation!
Lenni, what about when I fell off the back of the motorbike? Fractured scull 30 stitches in my head and another 30 spread around my back patching up the gravel rash, and a top lip that made me look like Donald Duck due to having knee'd myself in the face as I hit the deck, Stu made me do a gig four days later! (York Winning Post if you remember) A pre tour warm up on a Tuesday night to about 20 punters and a fractured scull wasn't even an excuse to cancel.
I mentioned this to Stu a couple of years ago and he just burst out laughing and said " I was bit of a cunt sometimes wasn't I?"

Hey Mr H .. i suppose without revealing too much (unles you wanna PM me..) whats Stu upto now-adays?
Stu's doing post-production down in that London.
Was informed by Paul today, though, that the daft
brush has just broken his leg skateboarding - so
it's more post-plaster of Paris than anything else
at the moment.

The chaos that surrounded that bunch of northern boot boys still surrounds them today, bout time we had a reunion and perhaps a number or two from the lads!
